Josh Butcher is the Assistant Director of Instructional Technologies within the University Center for Assessment, Teaching & Technology. He manages and coordinates a team of knowledgeable and skilled individuals that provide consultation and support assistance for a wide variety of instructional technology applications that are used by faculty, staff, and students at the university. Prior to becoming Assistant Director, he provided five years’ worth of support and training to faculty and staff on instructional applications such as Zoom, Panopto, and Clickers. He collaborates often with other groups across campus specifically with the UITS Collaborative and Academic Technologies team. He is best known across campus for providing superior technical support as well as delivering various webinars on instructional technology applications, the most popular being his recurring webinar on “New Features of Zoom.” 

Prior to coming to the University of Arizona in July 2017, Josh worked for 12 years at Western Illinois University providing college-wide technology and classroom technology support for the College of Education and Human Services. He also managed an interactive multimedia computer lab that provided just-in-time training and assistance to faculty, staff, and students on a wide variety of technology applications. Josh obtained his B.S. and M.S. in Instructional Design and Technology from Western Illinois University. 

During his free time, Josh enjoys being outdoors walking, hiking, and taking photos of landscapes, sunrises, sunsets, and monsoon storms. He also has a huge love for Labrador retrievers.
