Respondus LockDown Browser

Some instructors require LockDown Browser to take a quiz. This browser prevents students from using other applications on their computers while taking a quiz.

LockDown Browser does not work with Linux, Android devices (including Kindles), XBox, or iPhones.

Install the Browser

Note

Each Internet browser handles downloads differently. For help downloading anything, contact the 24/7 Support Center (opens in new tab).

Step 1

Select Quizzes in the navbar.

Step 2

Select the quiz from the list of Quizzes.

Step 3

Select Download and install the latest version of LockDown Browser. Under Quiz Requirements:

  • Follow the directions to install and download the file. 
  • Return to the quiz using your normal browser.

Use the Browser to Take a Quiz

Note

You must launch the LockDown Browser from inside the quiz, using your regular browser.

The LockDown browser will close unauthorized programs, so it's recommended that you close everything but the browser you access D2L through before starting the quiz.

Step 1

Select Launch Lockdown Browser. The LockDown Browser will launch. A permissions dialog may appear (opens in new tab)

Step 2

If prompted to close a program (e.g. screen capture, instant messaging), select Yes.

Step 3

The quiz will start.
