D2L New Student Orientation

This self-paced orientation provides a brief introduction to D2L. It answers questions about navigating a course site and the different tools instructors may use (e.g., Assignments, Discussions, etc.) and gives you a chance to practice in a low-stakes setting. You are always welcome to return to this site if you want more practice.

Note

You are automatically enrolled in the D2L New Student Orientation after your NetID is created and you are enrolled in courses.

Step 1

Log into D2L (opens in new tab).

Step 2

Locate the My Courses widget and select the All tab or the Discover Courses tab.

Step 3

Select the tile called D2L New Student Orientation.

Step 4

Select Open Course.

Note
If you do not see the D2L New Student Orientation in the My Courses widget (i.e., you were never enrolled in it or you requested to be unenrolled from it), you can still access it by self-enrolling through Discover.

Select the Discover link in the Navbar.

Step 3

Select Browse All Content.

Step 4

Type "D2L New Student Orientation" in the search box and select the Search icon.

Step 5

Select the name of the course in the results list. This will take you to the course enrollment page.

Step 6

Select the Enroll in Course button to self-enroll for the course.

Step 7

When the enrollment is complete, select the Open Course button to go directly to the course.

Step 8

The next time you want to open this course, select the Discover Courses tab in the My Courses widget on your D2L Homepage.
