Group Member Evaluation

Introduction

Group Member Evaluation provides teachers with transparent insights into the collaborative process, eliminating free-riding. It encourages critical thinking among students by assessment of both their own and their peers’ contribution on group assignments. This leads to a transfer of ownership of the assessment process, increasing motivation, engagement and deeper learning.

A complete Group Member Evaluation activity will consist of the following default steps:

  1. Instructions - Written instructions for students to follow that can optionally contain attached video, audio, screen share, and files.
  2. Given Reviews - Students are paired with their peers and can leave feedback using a rubric, scale, and/or comment-based criteria.
  3. Received Reviews - The step in which students read and interact with the feedback left by their peers.
