Participate in Top Hat Discussions
Participate from a Web Browser
Step 1
Log into app.tophat.com (opens in new tab).
Step 2
Enter the desired course. If you have not yet joined the Top Hat course, please visit our Join a Top Hat Course help page for instructions.
Step 3
Start by making sure the classroom tab is selected along the course header. The discussion will appear in the content tree on the left side of the screen under the Questions & Attendance header.
Step 4
Select the discussion and it will appear in the preview pane in the center of your screen. Posts made by others will appear in the preview pane beneath the discussion prompt.
Step 5
To add a post of your own, select the Reply button beneath the discussion prompt, type your response and select Post.
Note
You can upvote and comment on posts made by others in the discussion by using the thumbs-up and comment buttons on the corresponding posts in the feed.
Participate from the Mobile App
Step 1
Log into the Top Hat - Better Learning mobile app, available for iOS and Android.
Step 2
Enter the desired course. If you have not yet joined the Top Hat course, please visit our Join a Top Hat Course help page for instructions.
Step 3
Ensure that the Classroom tab is selected at the bottom of the screen. The discussion will appear in the main body of the screen under the Presenting header.
Step 4
Select the discussion icon, type your post in the field provided, then select Reply.
Note
You can upvote and comment on posts made by others in the discussion by using the thumbs-up and comment buttons on the corresponding posts in the feed.
